Ecovec is a Rentokil Initial company based in Brazil, which has outstanding laboratory facilities and an experienced team – usually working to identify mosquito types and the virus they can carry, such as Malaria and Dengue fever.
Today, the laboratory is actively helping the southern State of Minas Gerais to tackle the Coronavirus pandemic.
Ecovec has opened the doors of its PCR laboratory to increase the state’s capacity to analyze suspected patients of COVID-19. Currently, over 1,200 Covid-19 tests are being analysed each month at no cost.
As a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a high demand for PCR analysis to identify patients infected with the virus and with this partnership, the government can release results more quickly.
In partnership with its University partner, our laboratory has analyzed more than 200,000 mosquitoes in the last 8 years across the entire country to detect the presence of viruses.
